New Trustees take the helm in the Cowichan Valley

 

The Cowichan Valley Board of Education welcomed seven new Trustees who were sworn in for a 4-year term on December 10.  The Board elected Trustees Candace Spilsbury as Chair and Barb de Groot as Vice Chair.  Joining them are elected trustees Elizabeth Croft, Randy Doman, Rob Hutchins, Cathy Schmidt and Joe Thorne.

As the new Chair, Spilsbury stated “It is an exciting time for us as a new Board and it is an exciting time for the community as an elected Board returns to be a strong voice for our students.”.

The new Board will define its governance structure and leadership style over the coming months.  Chair Spilsbury commented for the Board, “We have much work to do and I am confident our collective commitment to students, collaboration, integrity, and service to our community will give us a unity of purpose which is all about excellent education for our students.”.

The Board begins its work in earnest in January.
