CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS – UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIORS Behaviours that
• Interfere with the learning of others • Create unsafe conditions Acts, such as • Bullying • Physical violence or verbal abuse • Name calling or foul language • Racism, discrimination, harassment or intimidation Illegal Acts, such as • Possession of weapons (real or pretend), drugs, alcohol, or tobacco • Bullying • Vandalism or theft The above behaviours are examples and are not all inclusive RISING EXPECTATIONS As students become older, more mature and move through each grade we expect that they will: • increase their self discipline and sense of personal responsibility • have increased consequences for unacceptable behaviour.
CONSEQUENCES
The staff and students of A.B. Greenwell School are committed to working together to follow the school Code of Conduct to provide a safe, respectful learning environment for everyone.
Should the Code of Conduct not be followed, one or more of the following consequences will be applied. Consequences will be based on the type and frequency of the misbehaviour , the age and maturity of the student and special needs, if any, in determining appropriate disciplinary action.
• Phone call to parents • Letter to parents • Meeting to discuss the problem • Referral to counsellor • Replacement or repair of damaged property • Writing about the incident • Time-out • Referral to principal or teacher-in-charge • Walking with supervisor • Temporary loss of school lunch hour/lunch privileges • Loss of privileges-field trips, school sponsored extra-curricular activities • Temporary loss of playground privileges • Restricted school hours • In-school suspension • Out-of-school suspension • Actions directed by District policy and regulations • Actions directed by the Criminal Code
PURPOSE The purpose of a code of conduct is to clearly define expectations of student behaviour during any school activity within the school or within the community at large. If a person has made a complaint of a breach of conduct, the board will take all reasonable steps to prevent retaliation against this person.

• I will think before I act – I will be safe • I will play safely on the playground • I will obey school and safety rules • I will help others to be safe • I will stay out of conflicts whenever possible • I will follow the directions of school staff • I will be aware of emergency drills

The CODE OF CONDUCT has been discussed in class and at assemblies. It has also been actively promoted through our monthly character building activities. All of the Behavioural Expectations are posted and actively taught to the students within the classroom and at assemblies.
