News Release - Announcement of Director, Principal and Vice-Principal assignments

School District No. 79 (Cowichan Valley) is pleased to announce the following assignments:

ACTING DIRECTOR OF MIDDLE/SECONDARY EDUCATION

Mr. Ron Nunweiler has been appointed to the position of Acting Director of Middle/Secondary Education for the 2011/2012 school year. He was previously the Principal and Vice-Principal of Chemainus Secondary School. Mr. Nunweiler has been a teacher, a technology curriculum coordinator, and an administrator in the district for the past twenty-one years.

ACTING PRINCIPAL OF CHEMAINUS SECONDARY SCHOOL

Ms. Sian Peterson has been appointed to the position of Acting Principal of Chemainus Secondary School for the 2011/2012 school year. She was previously the Vice-Principal of Cowichan Secondary School. Ms. Peterson has been a teacher and an administrator in the district for seventeen years.

PRINCIPAL OF TANSOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Mr. Joseph Boudreau has been assigned to the position of Principal of Tansor Elementary School effective August 24, 2011. He was previously the Vice-Principal of Chemainus Secondary School, Alternate Education and Chemainus Elementary Community School. Mr. Boudreau has been an elementary and secondary teacher and administrator in the district for sixteen years.

VICE-PRINCIPAL OF CHEMAINUS SECONDARY SCHOOL

Mr. Mike Martin has been assigned to the position of Vice-Principal of Chemainus Secondary School effective August 30, 2011. He was previously the Vice-Principal of Frances Kelsey Secondary School. Mr. Martin has been a secondary teacher and administrator in the district for fifteen years.

TEMPORARY VICE-PRINCIPAL OF COWICHAN SECONDARY SCHOOL

Ms. Vanessa MacDowell has been assigned to the position of temporary Vice-Principal of Cowichan Secondary School for the 2011/2012 school year. She was previously the District Literacy Specialist and has been an elementary and secondary teacher in the district for eight years.

TEMPORARY VICE-PRINCIPAL OF FRANCES KELSEY SECONDARY SCHOOL

Mr. Ian Grbavec has been assigned to the position of temporary Vice-Principal of Frances Kelsey Secondary School for the 2011/2012 school year. He was previously a department head and teacher at Frances Kelsey Secondary School where he has taught for the past twelve years.
