News Release - Announcement of Principal and Vice-Principal assignments

School District No. 79 (Cowichan Valley) is pleased to announce the following assignments.

PRINCIPAL OF DISCOVERY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Mr. Chris Clark has been assigned to the position of Principal of Discovery Elementary School effective August 1, 2011. He is currently the Principal of Alex Aitken Elementary School and was previously Principal of Somenos Elementary and Honeymoon Bay Elementary. Mr. Clark has been a teacher and an administrator in the district for 22 years.

PRINCIPAL OF ALEX AITKEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Ms. Updesh Cheema has been assigned to the position of Principal of Alex Aitken Elementary School effective August 1, 2011. She is currently the Principal of Somenos Rural Traditional School and was previously Vice-Principal of Cobble Hill Elementary, Mill Bay Elementary, and Honeymoon Bay Elementary. Ms. Cheema has been a teacher and an administrator in the district for 18 years.

PRINCIPAL OF SOMENOS RURAL TRADITIONAL SCHOOL

Ms. Jan Bradley has been assigned to the position of Principal of Somenos Rural Traditional School effective August 1, 2011. She is currently the Vice-Principal of Coldstream Elementary School in the Vernon SchoolDistrict. Ms. Bradley has been a Vice-Principal for the last seven years and has been a teacher at a number of different schools in other school districts.

TEMPORARY VICE-PRINCIPAL OF COWICHAN SECONDARY SCHOOL

Ms. Gillian Braun has been assigned to the position of temporary Vice-Principal of Cowichan Secondary School for the 2011/2012 school year. She is currently a teacher at Cowichan SecondarySchool. Ms. Braun has been a teacher in the district for 17 years.

PRINCIPAL OF TANSOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Mr. Joseph Boudreau has been assigned to the position of Principal of Tansor Elementary School effective January 1, 2012. He is currently the Vice-Principal of Chemainus Secondary School and was previously Vice-Principal at Alternate Education and Chemainus Elementary Community School. Mr. Boudreau has been an elementary and secondary teacher and administrator in the district for 16 years.
