News Release - Board of Education Appoints New Superintendent/CEO

DUNCAN - Board Chair Candace Spilsbury is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Joe Rhodes as the Cowichan Valley School District’s new Superintendent/CEO to replace retiring incumbent Mr. Daniel Boudreault. Mr. Rhodes will commence as Superintendent on July 1, 2011.

Mr. Rhodes, currently the Director of Middle/Secondary Education in the Cowichan Valley School District, has over 22 years of experience in various senior roles in 5 BC school districts as well as principal of a number of different schools in other school districts.

Spilsbury stated, “Mr. Rhodes is definitely the right person for our top educational leadership position. He has experience in school and district administration, has an understanding and commitment to our district, and has the expertise to assist the Board of Education in moving forward.”

“The search for a new Superintendent has been comprehensive,” stated Spilsbury. She said that district administrators and partner representatives were given an opportunity to participate in the hiring process by developing a profile of an ideal candidate as well as being members of the interview committee.

Rhodes stated, “I appreciate the vote of confidence for the work of the district team over the last few years and look forward to building on it.”
