News item – Kelsey grad exhibits at Cowichan Theatre Art Gallery
Provincial successes and national recognition while at school have helped propel Frances Kelsey 2005 grad Linzy Arnott to an exhibition of her art in the Cowichan Theatre Art Gallery. The show runs until the end of February.
As a student, Linzy received first place provincial awards and represented BC as a Canadian finalist in Ottawa and Quebec where her work was displayed in the Canadian Children’s Museum. In Grade 11, Linzy was the BC winner of the Canada Day Poster Challenge where her poster was selected out of a group of 833 entrants to advance to the finals in Ottawa. A framed copy of the poster, representing the meeting of two worlds, First Nations and Europeans, remains on display in the dome.
After her Kelsey graduation, Linzy received a full scholarship to study at the Art Institute of Vancouver and the Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Now a graphic designer and accomplished artist, her work is represented in galleries in Canada and the US including New York City. She has received numerous awards for her artwork including award-winning commercial illustration in the United Kingdom.
“We enjoy celebrating the achievements of our graduates and congratulate Linzy on her success,” said district superintendent Dan Boudreault.
