    Redeeming a Dogwood District-Authority Award

Important Information on Receiving Your Dogwood District/Authority (District) Scholarship

NOTE: These awards come directly from the Ministry of Education.

Please contact them directly at (250) 356-2443 with any questions.

    TIMELINE

    September 15th

The District deadline for submitting the "District Award Winners Report"

    Mid to late October

The Ministry of Education will send you a cheque for five hundred ($500) dollars, which is the first part of your scholarship.

    End of November

The Ministry of Education will send you an envelope containing a letter, a certificate and a voucher valued at five hundred ($500) dollars. To receive the monies from this voucher you must do the following:

    1. Register in and attend a regular program (e.g. a program that leads to a credential), or an approved apprenticeship program at a designated (approved for Canada Student Loans) post-secondary institution. You have five years to redeem the award, before the expiry date stated on the voucher.
    2. Confirm that your Social Insurance number, already on the voucher, is correct.
    3. Have your voucher validated, on the back, by the Registrar's office of the post-secondary institution you are registered in and attending, and return the completed voucher to the Ministry of Education for processing before the expiry date on the front.

The mailing instructions are indicated on the voucher. We recommend that you (the student) mail the voucher to the address provided rather than leave it with the post-secondary institution. If your address has changed from that printed on the voucher, provide your current mailing address as the cheque will be sent to you not the institution. Please allow six to eight weeks for completion of the redemption process.

    December

If you have not received any part of your award by the end of December, please contact the Awards Program directly at (250) 356-2443.
