We welcome all families to an
exciting school year at Drinkwater Elementary. We look forward to getting to know you and your children and
to work collaboratively for the benefit of all students. The dedicated,
professional teachers and staff, at our school, strive to meet the learning
needs of all our learners on a daily basis.
Drinkwater School is also
fortunate to have a fully developed extra curricular program, which gives
children the opportunity to participate in field hockey, volleyball,
cross-country, track and field and soccer as well as musical productions. We
encourage our students to work and play together co-operatively, modeling
responsible and respectful behaviour.
We strive to build a strong
sense of school community with high parent involvement. When we work together,
we are able to achieve higher results and provide a variety of extra activities
for our students.Together we can
make a difference.
Drinkwater School is named after
Mr. William Drinkwater, one of the original settlers of the Cowichan
Valley.He was Reeve of the
Municipality of North Cowichan for two terms:1878-1879 and 1888-1893.Our school was originally built in 1968, and has since been
renovated twice.It is currently
undergoing a seismic upgrade.
The school is located on Lane
Road.Over the last several years,
increased residential development has changed the setting of the school from a
rural to a more suburban setting.
The mission of Drinkwater Elementary
School, in partnership with the home and community, is to provide learning
opportunities that enable students to reach their potential within a safe,
caring, and supportive environment and to become responsible members of
society.
