Registration Procedures

2012-2013 SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION REGISTRATION

NOTICE TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS

Effective May 17, 2012 School District 79 will be accepting applications.

All students must register for busing each year.

You may register by choosing one the following:

1. Register Online, (the preferred method), at www.sd79.bc.ca

(Go to Transportation Form Instructions and follow the link)

2. Print a registration form from the district site or visit your school for one.

3. Visit the Transportation Dept to use the online registration Kiosk at

2557 Beverly St, Duncan. 8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday

As per Policy 2600 the Board assumes transportation to and from a student's “home” school and those that live outside the established walk limits.

2.0 kms for students attending Elementary Schools

3.5 kms for students attending Middle and Secondary Schools

Transportation services for students attending school of choice and/or program of choice or living within the walk limits, (referred to as Courtesy Riders), may be allowed riding privileges provided there is space available on existing routes.

Routes will not be altered to service Courtesy Riders.

Students considered Courtesy will be prioritized on a furthest distance basis and will not be guaranteed ridership until October 1, 2012 after routes and loads are established in September.

Parents may register their child using a home address and an alternate address providing the alternate is due to parental custody or child care needs.

The Transportation Department will not offer busing to students going home with other students, attending after school events or other functions.

A change of address through the school year requires a new registration and a minimum of 3 days notice prior to commencement of riding.

Phone calls to the school or department or notes to drivers will not be accepted.

Routes will be finalized and available online no later than August 1^st, and at all

District Schools August 27^th.

Please print out, complete and fax the registration form to 250-748-2132 or drop off at your student's school. All riders must register each year. Please allow three days notice for bussing to commence.

Bus Schedules 2011-2012

Starting April 2nd afternoon bus routes will run 15 minutes later (back to regular schedule) with the exception of schools that have been notified otherwise.
