More About Partners In Learning

chlogo

Students attend the Partners In Learning class at Chemainus Elementary School part-time, and study part-time at home. Classroom attendance is three days per week and focuses on reading, writing and mathematics. The multi-age composition of the class is intended to facilitate the development of social skills. While Social Studies, Science, Fine Arts, and P.E. are the focus of the homeschool portion of the program, some of the learning outcomes for these subjects are covered in class.

Parents who are thinking of enrolling their children in the Partners In Learning program should appreciate that it is not a correspondence or distance education program with packaged units to complete. Parents who initiated the program preferred the flexibility of creating their own home learning experiences. The Partners In Learning program supplies parents with Ministry approved texts for all subject areas. The Partners In Learning teacher is available to help parents find ways of meeting their children's learning interests while ensuring that Ministry of Education curriculum and assessment requirements are being met. Parents must be prepared to play a key role in planning and implementing the home-learning portion of the program. Their dedication to supporting their children's learning at home is a key to their children's success.
