Une
école verte/ Green School |
| At
École Duncan Elementary we care about the environment. |
| We have twice
achieved Green School Status with the S.E.E.D.S. Canada
program by completing over 200 environmental projects. |
We recycle
paper, telephone books and drinking boxes.
We use recycled items in our classrooms such as jam jars,
ice cream buckets, paper rolls, and egg cartons. |
The proceeds
from our juice box recycling and annual telephone book
drive go into our Green Fund. We have used the Green Fund
for many environmental projects, such as:
• Salmon enhancement program in grade 5 and 6
• Adopt a marmot program in grade 3
• Donations to local endangered habitats such as
the Maple Bay Gary Oak Preserve and the Somenos Marsh
• Planting and maintaining our school garden which
has many native plants to encourage the squirrels, birds,
and insects that share our school grounds with us |
