Message
Parents and visitors often
tell me that Khowhemun Elementary is one of
the best kept secrets in our
School District. Located
just two minutes out of Downtown Duncan, most people don’t
even know where we are. But when they find us they are always
pleasantly surprised and impressed.
Tucked away on quiet Cliffs
Road off of Government Street hill coming out of Duncan’s City Centre, Khowhemun Elementary
is a newly renovated, full-size Kindergarten to Grade 6 School.
Walk into our school and you immediately notice some of the
things about which parents and visitors continuously comment: “Safe
and Welcome”, “Clean and Orderly”, “Bright
and Cheerful”. This is an atmosphere carefully created
by staff with students.
We work hard to maintain this positive
learning environment. When you visit Khowhemun, one of the
first things
you’ll notice is a big, bright, busy library next to
a well-utilized computer lab. Down the hall we have a separate,
designated music room attached to a quiet inner courtyard.
Around the corner we are proud to show off a very large elementary
gym – great for full-size sports events and large fine
arts performances. This is important, as we are the largest
elementary school in the “Central Zone” of the
district. Outside, we have state-of-the-art Playground Equipment
and some of the best-maintained playing fields around.
