School Mission Statement
The mission of Alex Aitken School is to foster a safe, caring environment for students, providing them with strategies to be life long learners and to meet the challenges of a changing world. Students will have opportunities to experience success, feel confident in themselves and become cooperative, responsible members of society.
School Planning Council
What is a School Planning Council
On July 1, 2002, the BC Ministry of Education passed Legislation that mandated the formation of School Planning Councils. According to the guidelines, the SPC had to made up of the following educational stakeholders:
- the principal of the school;
- one of the teachers at the school, elected annually by secret ballot by the teachers who teach at the school;
- 3 representatives of the parents' advisory council who are
- parents of students enrolled in the school, and
- elected annually by the parents' advisory council.
The term of the appointment is one year.
