The Fearless Soldiers
by Jordan Kerns

My Gramma told me about a soldier every day
She said he was only turning eighteen that day
He went to the great war so young she said
He knew it was not a game
But a death bed where soldiers lay
Today they have armor and armored helmets
Back then they had camouflage and metal hats
She said they knew they might not come home
But what they did not know was Hiltler was not alone
That young soldier was a bold young man
Living in ditches every day
Having no food or water and no where to lay
It rained it snowed heavy most days
And now he lays
In the in the battle field ditches
Flanders fields

Why Remember ?
by Tyler Burton

Why remember the dead ?
Why change the past?
Why let so many young men die?
Why shouldn’t we have wars ever again?
How should we change the future?
We remember the dead because
They fought for our freedom.
We would change the past
So Hitler never came along.
We let so many kie
Of them risking their lives.
We also remember of the
Horrible foe.  We will change the future
By making peace with all countries.
We should not have wars ever again
Because they kill too many people.

Remember Us
by Taylor Wainman

I once was a kid
So sad
And lonely
I once was a teenager
So brave
But scared
Off to war with my life
I once was a parent
Who sacrificed my life
Watching those who die
Upon my feet
At night the skies glowed
I hope I’d be there
My kids, my wife
Are hoping for my life
So wear a poppy
And remember soldier
Those who lived and died.

Differences
by Karly Longridge

The eerie sound of bombs
Back at home lay worried moms

Forced to live in trenches
While we sit comfortably on benches

Guns shooting near
We stay free each and every year

The soldiers are worried about being killed at war
While we are worried about doing every chore

There worried about getting home safe
We are worried if the tag on our shirt will chafe

The brave ones are holding a gun
While we are out on a joyful run

They want to go back home
While we want to find our comb

While they are out getting shot
We are making dinner in a pot

Everyday they are hoping not to die
We watch the stars silently lay in the sky

Take some time out of your day to remember
The soldiers who fought to the last to make
Our lives free of any war.

The Loved and the Lost
by Liam Calijouw

The soldiers that stand strong
For us who will live long
Bombs exploding in battle scarred lands
For the thousands of soldiers that march in a common band

Now landing on the blood soaked beaches of France
Now killing each other with every last chance
Now brave blood silently draining into the sea
Now the soldiers who never will be

Children sitting sadly and crying on benches
Trying to remember their fathers now laying in trenches
Remembering them just seems to get harder
The young men that were trained to brutally murder

We now hang up thousands of crests
The brave soldiers now peacefully at rest
Lest we forget

Why We Remember
by Mathieu Jung

The men and women hid in the
Trenches
Just waiting for back up to come
The bravery they had to fight for freedom
The times they fought from day to night
The days they fought for their rights
The courage they had to help those in need
Made them feel that they did a good deed
Those who survived came home to their families
However those that didn’t are honored in a
Ceremony
They fought for their country with glowing hearts,
Yet some remain in the dark
They have many stories to tell of their past,
Yet those who did not survive will be laid to rest
The veterans and fallen soldiers are especially
Remembered on November 11th
Remembrance Day
We will always have in our thoughts
The brave men and women who
Sacrificed their lives for our country
This is “Why We Remember”

For Peace or for Power
by Baylee Hopwo

In the fields the poppies sway
Underneath them the soldiers lay.

I stand and look at a cross,
And stop and think about the families loss.

They sacrificed their lives for our independence,
Which is why we promote this day of remembrance.

I give a moment of deep thought,
For those soldiers who bravely fought.
I think of the joy the families would feel,
To see their love ones home from their ordeal.

World War I, World War II, Korean War and Iraq War,
I can’t help but wonder what all this fighting’s for.

For peace, or for power,
We think about it on this Eleventh hour.

So many soldiers
by Ty Berger

Soldiers do us duty as well give us their lives
Fearless, strong, brave
Why can’t there be more peace to spread?
Another one down, why?
There are to many bombs, guns and disease
To many hungry men and women
Family’s gone for so long and far, so when will they come home
The ones who come home tell such special stories.
So many dead in a split second
If you are found dead you will get toured home and stay home
Who created such harsh devises that shall only to be used to kill?
How do they get up the courage to go out and give their lives for country and
Hope?
They travel and explore the ocean, jungle and other deathly places
No sacrifice no victory and we want victory
This isn’t some little game you play, this means war.

Why We Remember
by Connor Bissett

Sacrifice
Fighting for freedom
As we remember
The boys risking their lives
Fighting for peace
As they lay between rows and rows of poppies
People remember
Their Children, their families
Their friends
While bombs are being set off
They tremble
As he dives for cover
We remember
Those who love their country
As friends don’t make it
You wish for peace, for freedom
As we pray
We remember, we hope, we believe
We remember

A Brave Soldier
by Taylor Hodding

I clearly go to school
While you are in a death defying duel
I have never held a gun
Nor killed someone
I have not seen a loved one die
Right before my very eye
I can’t imagine how scared you must be
Fighting so that we could be free
I would never have the bravery
To storm the beach at Normandy
I could never do what you have already done
You are the courageous one
You may not have realized it then
But you are a true hero
You and all the other men

When I was a Soldier
by Kieran Harvey

When I was a soldier I lived to see my friends die so we
could be free.
When I was a soldier I lived in the trenches where my
brother was no where to be seen
When I was a soldier I went off to sea missing my family.
When I was a soldier I flew my Jet in stormy weather
across the sea to help my comrades fight for peace.
When I was a soldier so far from home fighting for peace,
for my country and my home, I sometimes felt very alone.
When I was a soldier my brother and I saved many lives,
but so many more were lost before our eyes.
When I was a soldier they said I was brave, but in my
heart I knew we just had country to save.
So when you read my poem, I only hope you will
remember those soldiers who never came home…

Why?
by Keenan Eddy

Listen to the screeching of the sirens,
That wakes the young
Who was forced to wear uniform
They are now most dead
And lay in damp dirt beds in Flanders Fields
The poppies iron red growing round the graves
The unknown names with the same price paid
As fought alongside known heroes who were lucky
The noise of bombs and guns fire like a bumping drum
Over head with all the dead
A price that they paid
The end for some
The beginning for others

Remembrance
by Tyson Eliason

The soldiers giving their fare wells
As they know they may not come back home
Heading to battle was an incredible feeling,
Something you couldn’t describe
The courage of these men and women could make your
heart jump
Knowing that they could die at anytime
The sound of dreadful gun fire,
Escaping from bombs, escaping to save lives
The men in trenches were scared, wet, and cold
Or running, running from death
Who is just around the corner?
Wide eyed at night as they pray that maybe one day
they  can go back home
As it was a struggle to stay alive
These men fought for your freedom, for our rights
Died for your country, and for the better
We than them on Remembrance Day
For what they did for us

While I
by Anika Kushner

While I play
You pray
While I run
You hold a gun
When I sleep
You weep.
When I go out
You live in a drought.

While I play with Shannon
You load a cannon
While I sing
You stare at your wedding ring
While I sit on a rug
You sit on the mud

Courage
by Mackenzie Smith

It’s very important for us to remember
The wars of the past.
Of all the scared young ment
Who had to grow up real fast.
Then men who fought in the trenches
Which were slippery with blood.
And the men who died trying
To capture a ridge in the mud.
Remember the brave soldiers of Normandy
Who never even made it to the beach
Even though it was just out of their reach.
To the men who died in their foxholes at night.
As the enemy’s bombs gave off great light.
We have to remember these brave young men
Who fought for their lives
To the bitter end.

I Remember
by Keenan Tiefert

I live to be healthy, I live to be strong.
You only get one chance to be there and gone.
You might hear people say, “I remember that time.
When so many fought so I could live mine.”
So at first I thought the ground was red
But then I realized everyone was dead.”
Go, on Remembrance Day
Remember the soldiers, their families then
The people who fought
Remember the thing they did for our lives,
Our future.

We Remember
by Hayden Lachman

The days pass
But not on November 11th
It is a day to remember
They are fighting
I see soccer games
And they see people dying.
They will give their life for us but
We will be playing.
They will be fighting
We stand tall
For those who die
A poppy for peace
Red for the blood
And black for the soldiers
How can we thank them
How can we tell a family that their child is dead?
We remember.

Down on Earth
by Chicago Bains

I can’t quite pronounce what to say
But I do have time to pray.
In Flanders Fields soldiers lay
But up in heaven soldiers play
Down below our folks are boss
But up in heaven my folks are lost
Down on Earth they will get a medal
But up in Heaven their souls will settle.
In Flanders Fields the poppies will grow
To remind us all of those who fall.
Down on Earth our hearts are red
But in Heaven their souls spread.
In Flanders Field their helmets fall
It’s time to rest, cherish us all.

We Remember
by Ryan Hogg

Remembrance Day is a day we respect
For those who gave their lives to protect
Many years have gone by
Doesn’t mean you still can’t cry
Let us never forget
For all those brave vets
The bombs, the shrapnel, the haze in the sky
How many of them will die
The sound of the siren would make the call
Get to the shelters or else you may fall
For all those who fought
I would really like to thank them a lot.
Our lives today wouldn’t be this way
If the soldiers didn’t give their lives that day.

A Poem for Remembering
by Rachel Pike

Why should a mango to war
When there is nothing it is really good for?
Why should a man give up his life
Just because some countries are having a strife?

There are many heroes, many brave
But many young ones in their grave
There are many mothers who will never be the same
And many others who will never be sane

What would you do
If this were to happen to you?
Wouldn’t it be an awful sight?
Wouldn’t it be an awful fright?

Let us hope that war never comes here
Because if it does, everyone will live in fear
So never let us have a war again
For if we do, we’ll surely be slain.

But for all those who lived and died in pain
They did not do it in vain
They did it for their country
So that every girl and boy could be free.

For all the soldiers, the war and the fighting…..
This is a poem for remembering.

I Remember
by Keegan Ramsay

Deaths, so many countless deaths.
Young soldiers gone from this Earth.
Friends and family, cold and lonely
They lived pure and died for freedom,
Heroes, every one.
Some will survive but most will not.
We believe in different things but that
Does not give us the right to kill each other.
Was it right to kill the enemy?
The gunfire could have stopped,
The bodies cease to pile up.
I believe things could have changed.
Men and women still alive
But World War 2 still happened.
But it was not all bad
Lives were also saved.
Freedom was gained.
Don’t think of it as a blood bath
But as an alternate to what could have been.
I remember the good parts,
I remember.

Remember Us 2
by Taylor Wainman

The fight
Of those young and old
Fighting for freedom
Fighting for rights
The sacrifice
Of those brave
Of those scared
Fighting for pieces
Of their country
Of the ones
Who died
Or who are alive
They tell the story
So wear a poppy
And respect the ones
Who gave their lives to us
So you can be free
